My name is John, and I live in Evansville, Indiana. I am 43 years old and have been driving for about a year and a half. I never thought I would be able to drive, but thanks to the bioptic lens and Assistive Driving Services, I do.
I can’t say bioptic driving would be good for everyone. I did a lot of soul searching as I went through the training. I was not just looking to pass, I wanted to make sure I could be safe on the road. For me, it came down to one day. I drove about 125 miles in the rain one day. Towards the end of the day, I came through a construction zone in a pouring rain. I looked back on that day and thought if I could see OK in those conditions, I could see enough to drive.
If you’re nervous going into the training, that’s a good thing because it’s not something to take lightly, but I would highly recommend it. Scott at Assistive Driving Services did a great job in working with me. I trusted him to keep me safe as I learned, and he did.
I would like to thank you and Assistive Driving Services for your support in making my dream of driving a reality!
It has been a blessing knowing such a person as yourself. A person I have come to see as a God sent angel, giving the disabled the freedom of independence.
Scott, you will always be in my prayers of best wishes!
